HURRICANES
HURRICANES IN THE COMMUNITY
_____________________________________________________________________________
The Hurricanes formed shelter at
The Sunshine House
The event at “The Sunshine House” was a success on today. Players came out and devoted their time to the kids answering questions and demonstrating their skills. Most of the event was spent satisfying the kids curiosity by challenging them on topics relating to the sport of football. “I was impressed by the kids questions and their strong interest for the game, we didn’t have all of our players because of other obligations. However, the players in attendance showed their dedication to all the little ones,” stated Coach Monty. Players in attendance represented the special teams, OL, DL, WR, DB, RB, and LB of the Palmetto Hurricanes. Thanks to everyone that came out and made this project a huge success.

Oliver Gospel Ministries
As always, the Hurricanes are actively involved in the
community. This holiday season we will be donating to the Oliver Gospel Ministries. Please bring “white” items to the Strength and Conditioning camp on Dec. 17th. Items to bring are toothpaste, travel size soap, flour, rice, toilet paper, Kleenex, men underwear, socks, bath towels, kitchen towels, etc. We ask that all items are “white” in color for this holiday season. Fans can also bring items on the Dec. 17th for donations or drop them off at the location of 1100 Taylor street Columbia SC. This will be an ongoing charity event for the Palmetto Hurricanes.

The Palmetto Hurricanes visited the Sunshine House this week to read books to children and share pizza. They were greeted by boys and girls from ages 4-11 as the children presented them with questions and requests for autographs. The Hurricanes talked football and invited these youngsters and their parents out to a home game this season as well as a tour of the facilities during one of the Hurricanes practices. Veteran players Newon Allen, Robert Dinkins, Curtis Issac, and Sterling Watson were on hand to assist Coach Monty in bringing smiles to the faces of these children. The parents, teachers, and administration of The Sunshine house all expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the time spent during Tuesday and Thursday evening. The children of Sunshine house thoroughly enjoyed the Hurricanes! However, it was the Hurricane players that were uplifted by the excitement and joy of spending time and reading to our youth!
